The Use of Magic in Teaching Organizational Behavior
Western Illinois University The parallel between magic and Organizational Behavior (OB) is that actions, behaviors, and events often happen with a lack of easily understandable explanation. An Anger-Wonder-Envy (AWE) response occurs. Magic tricks recreate this AWE response experientially in the classroom. This article explores the nature of the AWE response, provides instructions for the performance and presentation of two magic tricks, and outlines several OB themes relating to the demonstrations of magic.
