Whats My Line? An Exercise on First Impressions and Perceptual Shortcuts That Puts Students into the PictureWest Texas A&M University This article provides an interactive exercise for increasing students' awareness of stereotyping as a perceptual shortcut.Volunteers in the class disclose something about themselves that is not readily apparent to others. Students in the audience then match the information disclosed with each volunteer. The exercise is designed to sensitize people to think first and not base their decisions on sterotypical information.
